Our Favourite Literary Lines For Charles Dickens' Birthday!

Our Favourite Literary Lines For Charles Dickens' Birthday!

Charles Dickens was born on this day over two hundred years ago - 7th February 1812. He was the author of so many brilliant novels, from Great Expectations and The Pickwick Papers through to Oliver Twist and A Christmas Carol. To celebrate the iconic writer, we thought it would be nice to compile a list of some his best lines from literature. (There was a lot to choose from!)

'There is nothing so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good humour.' - A Christmas Carol

'For there was something very comfortable in having plenty of stationery.' - Great Expectations.

'No one is useless in this world who lightens the burden of another.' - Doctor Marigold.

'My advice is to never do tomorrow what you can do today. Procrastination is the thief of time.' - David Copperfield.

'Every traveler has a home of his own, and he learns to appreciate it the more from his wandering.'

'Suffering has been stronger than all other teaching, and has taught me to understand what your heart used to be. I have been bent and broken, but - I hope - into a better shape.' - Great Expectations.

'It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way.' - A Tale Of Two Cities.
