Our 2020 Roundup & What We're Grateful For

Just like the rest of the world we couldn’t wait to see the back of 2020. A surreal twelve months that at times felt neverending. Despite its undeniable bad points, it’s important we reflect on the moments that we’re grateful for too.

The Ultimate Escapism

Reading is the perfect form of escapism and we’ve never been more grateful to sell books as a living! Being able to dip into our supply of literature and immerse ourselves in another world for a while has been invaluable. We’re so pleased that we've been able to provide that same welcome break from reality for our customers and their loved ones too.

Kindness of Strangers

2020 has allowed us to see just how kind our customers are. We launched our Donate a Book scheme at the beginning of the first lockdown. People were able to purchase a surprise classic book at a discounted rate which we would then send to an individual who had been nominated for a special pick-me-up gift via our dedicated signup form. The response and number of orders was overwhelming and it was so wonderful to see so many people showing kindness to complete strangers.  

Our Team

We’re so grateful that despite logistical difficulties we managed to figure out a way for our entire team to carry out their work in a safe environment (both at home and in the workshop). This meant that we were able to continue processing and fulfilling orders and also plan and design exciting new products. It’s been challenging at times but we’re so proud of everything we’ve accomplished these last nine months.

Although we’re not sure what the next twelve months holds, we’re hopeful for brighter times ahead. We’re looking forward to improving, designing and creating with our wonderful and supportive customers in mind.
